Hong Kong's Television Broadcast Ltd (TVB) Selects Foxcom for its Fiberoptic Interfacility Links services to HFC broadband networks. In structures with existing coax infrastructure, the HFC Distribution System provides an ideal method for providing broadband services.
Foxcom Ltd. is proud to announce that Hong Kong's Television Broadcast Ltd (TVB) (http://www.tvb.com.hk/ ) - one of Asia Pacific's leading distributors of terrestrial broadcast and DBS TV - will be using the Foxcom 7000 series Fiberoptic Interfacility Links for its new TVRO, uplink, and microwave interfacility linkage applications. The new TKO project by TVB includes a cluster of 5 new broadcast facilities and one Satellite Antenna Farm.
In early 2002, TVB's transmission laboratory conducted a series of stringent tests and evaluations, examining the system proposals and sample submissions of 16 different vendors. Prior to this, TVB also conducted a thorough comparison of co-axial vs. fiber systems, evaluating attenuation, phase noise, CNR, EMI & RFI, lightning, access flexibility, maintenance & service expenses, upgrade costs, future proof capability etc. The goal of this evaluation was to examine whether or not an investment in fiber will pay off in long term.
As a result of these two processes, Foxcom's Hong Kong /China partner & exclusive distributor CT Technology Co Ltd, was awarded the contract for all of the L-Band, 70 MHz and serial data links representing a total of more than 100 fiber optic links.
In deciding to go with the Foxcom IFLs, one of the most critical factors was the quality of the signal provided by the links. TVB's engineering staff proved that by using Foxcom's 70 MHz link between their facilities of Microwave Tower and the Master Control Room (MCR), all kinds of analogue and digital TV signals (including 64 QAM) could be faithfully transported in its original form without any quality degradation at any desirable distance within the link budget. "Foxcom Fiber links has the best CNR and noise floor among the others" said Mr Richard Chan, the chief Engineer of Transmission. This solution has given TVB great flexibility when locating equipment in its new facilities.
By winning the contract from TVB, Foxcom has again proven its ability to deliver the highest performance in the industry. Foxcom's cost effective fiber optic interfacility links, are backed by a worldwide network of professional sales engineers and support personnel.
